NICT or National Institute of Information and Communications Technology is Japan’s sole National Research and Development Agency specializing in the field of information and communications technology. It is charged with promoting ICT sector as well as research and development in ICT, which drives economic growth and creates an affluent, safe and secure society.
For B5G and 6G, NICT:
- is a R&D HUB for B5G/6G Development in Japan
- offers a B5G Testbed for Developers
- serves as a Funding Agency of B5G R&D Promotion Programs
- is a member of B5G Promotion Consortium (B5GPC)
- NICT is a contributor of B5G Standards (ITU-R, 3GPP, IEEE, etc)
NICT has recently published a 6G scenario which they describe as: 'What is the future life of the Beyond 5G era? ~Special scenario 1: My new life in Apple Town~'. The video of that and other three scenarios is embedded as follows:
Last year they published another promotional video, ”A Future with N.”, which explains the four strategic technologies that can be seen in the first picture; Beyond 5G, Simultaneous AI Interpretation, Quantum Cryptography, and Cybersecurity in brief.
