The 10th edition of the Brooklyn 6G Summit (B6GS) was held from October 31 to November 2, 2023, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. It brought together 50 speakers and panelists who are experts in their fields and leaders in their industries as well as showcased over 20 live demonstrations.
The 'Impact of 6G on Metaverse' session started with 'The Metaverse at Work' presentation detailing the key outputs of the EY-Nokia study, presented by Vincent Douin from Ernst&Young. This was swiftly followed by a presentation on 'How Standards Cooperation is Vital to 6G in the Metaverse' by Neil Trevett from NVIDIA and President of Metaverse Standards Forum.
The Metaverse Standards Forum enables diverse standards organizations and the wider industry to drive consensus and action on metaverse interoperability. This talk outlined how 6G will enable key metaverse use cases, and how the Forum is working to drive awareness on how advanced network capabilities may be exposed alongside other domain standards to enable a thriving user-facing ecosystem through flexible XR application portability.
