At the Brooklyn 6G Summit 2024, Dr. Mingxi Fan, Senior General Manager of Wireless Communication Technology and System design at MediaTek presented a talk on how to 'Enable a Healthy and User-centric 6G Device Ecosystem'. The synopsis of the talk states:
As industry is moving towards 6G standardization, it is very important to ensure technology development enables differentiated value on consumer devices and new types of device applications. Such enablement is dependent not just on communication technologies but also computing and semiconductor process advancement. There are several key technology elements that need ecosystem collaboration and synergy to ensure commercial success of 6G devices, including efficient spectrum utilization and multi-radio sharing, integrated network and device edge compute with intelligent sensing, seamless NTN and terrestrial integration, carbon-efficient low-power design, and end-to-end AI-native architecture.
Challenges, potential solutions, and trade-off for each area will be discussed.
